In the train I sat, the lady to my left starred blankly into the thin air, her mind seemed to be so far from the present. The man next to her scratching his beard, I assumed he probably hadn’t had a shower but his clothes stated otherwise. A turquoise suit, so I assumed his neighbor gave him flees.
The old lady reading a book seemed to be the most sane in that whole cabin. She turned the pages with her age filled fingers, wetting them with her saliva. She was not happy but she seemed content, something I knew little of.
Then the perverts, those who gave you weird looks. Those who had no shame sending provocative gestures. The mentally handicapped that roamed freely in our god forsaken country.
Then we stopped, a couple came in at that station. All cuddly and sweet, clinging onto one another as though their whole life depended on it. They looked as though they were still on their honeymoon phase. That phase between reality sets in. The phase before they have to pay for mortgage and electricity bills.
Then there was me, analysing everyone else. I wondered if they did the same too. I wondered their description of me. Perhaps the lady by the window who keeps starring at others, or, perhaps I seemed normal to them. Is that not what normal people do? Analyze and pass judgement? I stood to be corrected .
With love, Nelly.
